"Boston Club" of Sabae City, Fukui - Japan's central eyewear centre - launched JAPONISM with the concept of "Japanese modern" in 1996. In the same year, it would exhibit at such events as SILMO in Paris, and MIDO in Italy.
日本最大のメガネ産地である福井県鯖江市のアイウェア企画会社ボストンクラブが、1996年に「日本的モダン」をコンセプトとしたジャポニスムを立ち上げる。同年、フランスのシルモ・パリやイタリアのミド展などに出展する。
Frames are manufactured using Sabae's world-renowned production technology. Eyewear of true three-dimensional form created through technologies such as incrementally pressed titanium and hydraulically configured acetate.
世界トップクラスと評される鯖江のメガネ加工技術を駆使して、フレームを製造。数10回にわたるチタンのプレス加工や、変幻自在のアセテートの油圧プレスなど、高度な技術により立体的なデザインのアイウェアが生まれた。
In 2002, Boston Club opens its first directly managed store, "GLOSS", in Aoyama. In 2009, a second store opens in Ginza. Customer feedback is sent straight back to product development. Later, the 2 stores are integrated to become "GLOSS Ginza".
2002年に東京・青山にボストンクラブの直営店「GLOSS」がオープン。2009年には銀座に直営2号店が誕生。エンドユーザーの声をデザインにフィードバックして商品開発に役立てる。後に2店舗は統合し、「GLOSS銀座」に。
The "Projection" series was derived from the philosophy of, "Use something really good, carefully, and for a long time." A unique and easily maintained "Rudder Hinge" was developed - it does not require screws and has been tested to open and close 100,000 times.
「良いものを長く使う」というコンセプトをもとにプロジェクションシリーズが誕生する。ネジを使わない構造で、消耗したパーツを簡単に交換できるラダーヒンジを独自開発し、10万回の開閉テストにもクリアした。
On October 28, 2017, the Boston Club opened the "Boston Club Store" in Sabae, next to the company's headquarters. It features the full lineup of the brand's products and showcases the JAPONISM worldview.
2017年10月28日、鯖江市にある本社隣にボストンクラブビルディングがオープン。同社オリジナルブランドのフルラインナップが揃う「ボストンクラブショップ・サバエ」や、ジャポニスムの世界観を体感できるミュージアムなどが誕生する。

A solid, rounded Wellington shaping that features the "Rudder Hinge" without screws. "Skinny" temples convey a minimalist aura.

The brow is hand painted with traditional Japanese colour, "sabitetsuonando" (a steel grey). Time-honoured forging techniques have been used to add eye-shaped motifs to the temple ends.

A titanium frame featuring triangular patterning on the inner sides of the front and temple ends. Carefully selected pastel plating lightens the impact of the front.
